Masters by coursework & research report programs

The Department of Occupational Therapy currently presents three different Masters by coursework & research report programs:

The program

The Masters by coursework and research report is presented as a part-time course over two years. The coursework is delivered in 5-8 modules of one to two-weeks at a time during the academic year. Attendance in Johannesburg is required for all modules.

Usually, the weeks in the first year of study are in February, March, April, June, August and exams are over a 2-3-week period in October. The block weeks for the second year of study are course-specific. Lectures usually start early in January.

Students are required to undertake extensive reading and complete assignments between coursework weeks.

Admission

In order to gain entry to the Masters by coursework and research report programs, students must have an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy. Foreign qualified students should contact the Wits International Office for assistance with all the requirements to apply to study at Wits.

Students should apply by the last Friday in September in order to commence with studies in the following academic year.

Costs

Students must contact the Faculty of Health Sciences for more information about the costs of study. When calculating costs, students should also consider their accommodation and travel costs to attend lectures.
