External Bursary Opportunities

Bursary opportunities are offered by some external companies, municipalities and government departments to reward academic excellence or help undergraduate students in need of financial assistance.

John Davidson Educational Trust: Postgraduate students in the fields of Engineering and Accountancy

The John Davidson Educational Trust is pleased to support postgraduate students who wish to further their studies in the fields of Engineering and Accountancy.

Please note the important details for applicants in 2025:

  • Only students with an average of 60 percent and above will be considered.
  • The JDET will only accept postgraduate applications in Engineering and Accountancy for 2025.
  • All sections of the application form must be completed. Any incomplete section will result in the application being unsuccessful.
  • Completed application forms must be accompanied by all requested supporting documents and delivered in hard copy to Justine Dangor, 6th Floor, Solomon Mahlangu House.
  • Electronic copies will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete applications will be deemed unsuccessful.
  • Students applying must have already applied to Wits to study in 2025
  • This is only open to Wits students or students who have applied to study at Wits in 2025
  • The closing date for submission of applications is 12 noon Monday 27  January 2025. No extensions will be granted.

2025 call for applications: YES programme

The Youth Employment Services (YES) programme is a collaborative initiative between business and the government aimed at creating job opportunities for the youth of South Africa, as well as job readiness skills. The programme recognises the critical role that young individuals play in shaping the country’s economy.

In line with creating job opportunities for the youth of South Africa and building capacity for the organisation and partner small, medium and micro enterprises, the CSIR invites applications for the study areas listed here.
