The Development and Leadership Unit (DLU) offers customised programming in different areas

This entails designing programmes in partnership with various stakeholders based on their developmental needs and to centre the individual at the core of the design process to ensure the desired learning outcomes can be achieved. 

Personal Development

These programmes provide an opportunity for students to think about how to be courageous and “show up” in every space they find themselves. The customised programmes provide an opportunity for students to develop personal skills and competencies such as emotional intelligence, personal leadership, critical thinking and personal growth and formation. These customised programmes provide an opportunity for students to manifest their aspirations and take control of their learning journey.

Social Development

These programmes provide an opportunity for students to think about themselves in relation to others and to challenge their assumptions of gender dynamics, cultures, race relations, and the way in which they communicate, connect and engage across all people. These customised programmes provide an opportunity for students to develop their people skills and competencies such as, interpersonal skills, social intelligence, cross-cultural intelligence, and leadership.

Professional Development

These programmes provide an opportunity for students to think about their professional development and how they equip themselves to be engaged industry leaders. These customised programme offerings incorporate work-based skills through innovation, in terms of how students can be effective decision-makers and problem solvers, through developing competencies such as project management and a design-mindset.
