Gateway to Success
The Gateway to Success programme runs from Monday 27 January to Friday 07 February 2025 to help you find your feet as a university student.
Wits has created an exciting orientation programme to help you find your feet and successfully make the transition to being a university student. Gateway to Success is a compulsory programme for all new first year students that integrates academic content and skills, student life, health and wellness and orientation to Wits. It will be run in a blended format, with some activities taking place on campus and some being run in an online mode.
After completing Gateway to Success, students will have the knowledge and skills to use the Wits online Learning Management System, Ulwazi, for their academic courses from day 1 of the term, know their way around campus and where to get support; get introduced to First Year Experience programme, make friends, and feel part of the Wits community.
First Year registration Welcome Day will be held on Sunday, 26 January 2025 and the Gateway to Success programme runs from 27 January to 07 February 2025, to ensure you receive the required data from the beginning of February in preparation for the commencement of the Programme.

First Year Experience (FYE)
The FYE Programme is a year-long programme that has components such as mentorship and workshops, among other fun activities. During GTS, first year students will be introduced to FYE mentors who will give them more information about the FYE (year-long) programme and its benefits. For more information, keep an eye on the FYE Ulwazi site (where you will receive both GTS and FYE related information) and click here to visit the FYE website.
