This new platform focuses on creating an interface between learners, educators and southern African archaeological heritage, by diversifying and expanding on the narratives found in the Curriculum.

Outcomes

The key outcome of this educational programme is to inspire interest about the South African Stone Age and to create a sense of understanding of early modern human behaviours and innovations. The material culture of the Stone Age will be simulated in our in-house education facility where learners will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty.

Hosted seminars

The Origins Centre’s Education Initiative would like to invite teachers to enrichment workshops that cover content related to the African Stone Age. The seminars will be presented by archaeological professionals based at the Origins Centre and will diversify on the concepts found within the Social Sciences History Curriculum, namely, interpretation of rock art, the objects and people of the Later Stone Age as well as a look into the innovations found in earlier periods, such as the Early and Middle Stone Age.
