Wits Rugby remain the Pace-Setters

Wits University again proved to be pace-setters on the club scene against Pirates at Greenside beating the Rats 50-17
The Witsies, playing most of the match with 14 men, scored half a century while conceding only 17 points.
Lock Anton Gerber received a red card for a punch early on but it didn’t slow the students down.
There are always a lot of stars in a run-away victory, but this one started in front.
Hooker Dameon Venter, prop Jason Cloete and flanker Lindo Ncusane were outstanding.
Runaldo Pedro had a field day behind his pack and Keegan Lailvaux’s boot was on song.
Winger Ilunga Mukendi scored his third try in as many games for Pirates while Jarrod Branco also dotted down for the Rats.
Pirates were outpaced by the Students but they never raised the white flag.
Wits scored seven tries, by Hlumelo Ndudula, Dameon Venter, Aidynn Cupido, Cal Smid, Lungelo Sithole, Runaldo Pedro and Sthsaba Mqhatu. Lailvaux converted six and added a penalty.
