Sanlam Sky Solutions has announced the appointment of Anne Livingstone, formerly Sanlam Sky Solution’s chief finance and actuarial officer, as its new chief executive. Livingstone replaces Rob Ward, who has taken up a position with Sanlam’s network marketing business, called Channel 4 Life.
Heinie Werth, chief executive officer of Sanlam Developing Markets says, “Together with the unchanged managing committee members, Anne will ensure that it’s business as usual and that the company continues to investigate new opportunities to build on its overall effectiveness at a strategic, operational and tactical level.”
“I see a great deal of opportunity in the entry level financial services market in South Africa and am thrilled to be leading Sanlam Sky Solutions into the future. I am committed to ensuring that the business continues to grow from strength to strength, delivering on our promises to our policyholders, our people and our shareholders,” says Livingstone.
Livingstone fulfills her new role with a wealth of experience that began after she completed her degree in December 1999 and joined the Actuarial & Insurance Solutions (A&IS) team at Deloitte and its predecessor Southern Africa Actuarial Consultants (SAAC). While there she was involved in, and responsible for, the provision of actuarial consulting services to a wide variety of life insurance companies.
In November 2006, Livingstone left SAAC and took up the position of general manager: actuarial services at Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM) reporting to the SDM CEO. In her role she was responsible for the efficient operation of the actuarial function across the SDM cluster. During 2008, her role was expanded to include the risk and compliance management functions, serving as the SDM chief risk officer. Then, in May 2009, she was promoted to chief finance and actuarial officer and took over responsibility for financial reporting and governance for the cluster.
Livingstone holds a Bachelor of Economic Sciences degree from the University of Witwatersrand. She is also a fellow member of both the Actuarial Society of South Africa and the Faculty of Actuaries in Edinburgh.
