Inside Ludwig’s architectural exhibition

The urban design exhibition, ‘Integrated and Connected Thinking’, highlights Dr Ludwig Hansen's visionary work.

Dr Ludwig Hansen, Director of the Property and Infrastructure Management Division at Wits University’s School of Architecture and Planning, was named the 8th recipient of the South African Urban Design Institute’s (UDISA) Roelof Uytenbogaardt Award.

He received this award during the Roelof S. Uytenbogaardt UDISA Memorial Lecture (RSUUML) at the University of Pretoria in February 2024.

An exhibition of his work accompanied the award, which has since been displayed at, Wits, UKZN and in Cape Town. The exhibition at Wits was held from 17–27 September 2024. For more on Hansen’s designs, click here.

The RSUUML honours Roelof S. Uytenbogaardt’s role in establishing urban design in South Africa and recognises significant contributions from UDISA members. Previous awardees include Julian Cooke (2015), Katie Ewing (2016), Erky Wood (2017), Piet Louw and Dave Dewar (2018), Monica Sack (2019), Lucien le Grange (2021), and Martin Kruger (2022).
