Price Media Law Moot Court Competition

The Price Media Law Moot Court Competition is one of the world's oldest human rights moot court competitions and indeed the only international moot to focus on the human rights aspects of media law. It is entering its 19th year in 2025. Typically, teams participate from around the world through regional rounds. Qualifying teams compete in the International Final Round that takes place in Oxford.

Due to funding constraints and visa related issues regarding travel, the African Regional Rounds will take place online. If you have potential funding idea in mind, and you see this invitation please contact us at africapricemoot@gmail.com

The moot problem centres around human rights aspects of media and tech law. This year the problem is at the intersection of environmental justice, facial recognition technology, and social media. The moot is a comparative law moot, which requires participants to draw on the work of regional and international human rights systems to construct their arguments. The competition takes the form of an appeal to a fictional Universal Court of Human Rights and claims are couched in terms of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
