The Faculty Research Office is pleased to offer research courses and workshops for postgraduate students and staff.

Booking is essential.

RedCap:

REDCap is a tool that allows you to create research databases, capture and manage data and export directly to a stats program of your choice. It is web-based, so there is no need for installation, and you can access it from anywhere you have an internet connection. It is also mobile device friendly. Your data is secured by a password protected account and site encryption, and our servers have various levels of back up in place. REDCap is very easy to use, and there are some great tutorial videos on the site itself, but if you need any help you can email the Wits REDCap administrator redcap.health@wits.ac.za or call 011 717 6634 with your queries or to make an appointment. REDCap accounts are free of charge for any staff or students of the Wits Faculty of Health Sciences. If you would like to request an account please fill in the registration form

Wits-JBI affiliated group: collaborating centre for evidence-based practice

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Witwatersrand is an affiliated group of the Joanna Briggs Collaboration. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Adelaide (Australia) has developed software - the System for the Unified Management, Assessment and Review of Information (SUMARI) to assist researchers to do systematic reviews in the field of health, social sciences and humanities. Once you have done the JBI systematic review training you will have access to JBI SUMARI that will assist you with the different stages of your systematic review e.g. protocol writing, study selection, critical appraisal of studies, data extraction, data synthesis etc. Additional information regarding the JBI SUMARI tool and tutorials can be sourced at the following link: http://joannabriggs.org/
