In 2025, as South Africa leads the G20, Wits University takes its place at the forefront, using its intellectual capital, groundbreaking research, and thought leadership to support the nation’s priorities on this global stage.

Wits is actively shaping South Africa’s G20 agenda, focused on Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability. Across our faculties and schools, we’re driving real-world solutions through academic excellence, pioneering research, and strategic partnerships—for South Africa, the region, and the world.

Through thought leadership, collaborative projects, and policy-focused research, Wits is helping ensure that South Africa’s G20 presidency leaves a lasting legacy, showing how knowledge can create a more equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future.

Our Role in Advancing the G20 Agenda

Research and Innovation Wits University promotes multidisciplinary collaboration across all faculties to advance ethical data governance, AI, machine learning, and robotics. Through initiatives like Wits MIND and the Wits Innovation Centre, the university fosters an ecosystem where research and practical applications meet, driving innovation and transforming industries. Health We are a global leader driving innovation and excellence in medical research, public health, and clinical practice.
