Please note:
You can gain access to campus if you have received one Johnson and Johnson vaccine or one shot of the Pfizer vaccine, but you will need to upload the certificate for your Pfizer second shot and Pfizer booster, or Johnson and Johnson booster when received to be up to date on your vaccination schedule as recommended by National Department of Health and National Institute of Communicable Diseases.
The Policy states all students who have applied to Wits residences must be vaccinated before they will be granted accommodation. First-year students in the Gateway to Success Programme will need to show proof of vaccination or be granted reasonable accommodation before 5 February 2022.
International students and staff, or persons who have international vaccination certificates/cards are able to upload their vaccination certificate or vaccination card to the Wits Wits MVax Upload Portal. Choose the option for Upload International Vaccination Certificate/Documents.
Staff and students who were part of a Vaccine Trial or Vaccine Study (not including the Sisonke Trial) are able to upload their vaccination documents to the Wits MVax Upload Portal. Choose the option for Upload International Vaccination Certificate/Documents.
The MVax Helpdesk is at the Campus Health and Wellness Centre from Monday to Friday, 08:00-15:00, to assist with the manual uploads of vaccination certificates or any other queries. How to Apply for Reasonable Accommodation
Wits staff and students may apply for Reasonable Accommodation if they can not be vaccinated on medical grounds or may elect not to be vaccinated on Constitutional grounds through the exercise of their rights to privacy, bodily integrity, freedom of religion, freedom of belief and/or freedom of opinion. It is noted that these rights are not absolute and may be limited to give effect to the Wits Vaccination Policy. Click here to apply for Reasonable Accommodation.
