Occupational Therapy

The Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy is a part-time programme taken over 2 years. The course consists of advanced occupational therapy assessment and intervention in paediatric, adult mental health and adult neurological conditions.

Overview


At completion, the graduate will show advanced knowledge of occupational therapy practice and the applications thereof. The qualifying candidate is competent to apply advanced knowledge to occupational therapy and occupational science problems.

Curriculum


Students will complete courses in advanced neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, occupational science, occupational therapy and professional practice and leadership.

Entry Requirements


Applicants must be in possession of a basic undergraduate occupational therapy degree.

Applicants should only apply for the preferred qualification, as it is not possible to switch between programmes.

  • Neurological disorders: MFANDIS50
  • Perceptual Disorders: MFAPDIS50
  • Psychiatric Disorders: MFAPSYD50

University Application Process


  • Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC). Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
