Faculty Libraries
There are three libraries that primarily serve the CLM community as well as scholars from outside the University who require access to the libraries’ distinctive collections.
The CLM libraries are set in locations convenient to the academic departments they serve.
The Commerce Library and the Law Library are situated at Braamfontein Campus West whilst the Management Library is located at the Parktown Management Campus. The CLM libraries offer technologically advanced reading and research material, and the highest possible level of specialised service by friendly, competent and helpful staff.
The focus of CLM libraries is to support research, as well as teaching and learning within the Faculty by providing adequate print and electronic information resources of both contemporary and historical materials.
These libraries are committed to making their collections and resources accessible to all scholars and researchers and have thus developed Subject Portals / Libguides to help users to quickly and efficiently find reliable scholarly subject based information resources in one place. The Libguides contain listings of recommended resources for finding information, such as databases, journals, books, webpages, etc
Access Libguides:
- Commerce Library: Economic and Business Sciences
- Commerce Library: Accounting Subject Guide
- Law Library
The libraries individual websites provide vital information on hours of operation and available resources and services. CLM libraries provide service to the differing needs of undergraduate, postgraduate and research-oriented communities. These facilities provide a quiet, relaxed sanctuary for study, research and writing. CLM libraries offer a variety of workspace alternatives and these include: study desks; computer workstations; comfortable couches; power and network points for laptops; wi-fi; group project areas; daily newspapers; printing; copying and scanning facilities; and audio-visual viewing facilities.
These libraries also contain a rapidly increasing inventory of digital resources. Some of CLM libraries have embedded the online newspapers onto their Libguides.
The materials and expertise of library staff supports research conducted by the CLM academic staff and students, as well as an international community of scholars.
