Creating new futures through research and academic excellence

As a School, we strive towards research and academic excellence, and in doing so, we hope to help shape the future. All of our first degrees in engineering are fully accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa under the Washington Accord. We provide a vibrant learning environment, with purpose-built laboratories.

Our academics are experts in various engineering fields and involved in progressive research activities that span areas in Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. We host two NRI/DST Chairs: Clean Coal Technology and Sustainable Process Engineering, as well as the South African Institute of Welding (SAIW) Chair of Fabrication and Welding Engineering, in addition to several research groups in sustainable engineering and metals and materials manufacturing and beneficiation.
