Self–catering mixed gender residence (shared bed spaces)

The building was donated to the University in the late 1980s to meet the rising need to accommodate students. This high-rise building is located just off campus, on the corner of Bertha and Jorissen Streets in Braamfontein, within a two-minute walk of the main campus, amenities, shopping areas, banks, and public transport.

Noswal Hall

Self-catering mixed-gender residence with a bachelor, two, three and four-bedroom apartments

Noswal Hall is a modern high-rise vibrant residence located off campus on the corner of Stiemens and Bertha Street in Braamfontein opposite the Wits School of Arts. The University took occupation of the building in February 2014.

Housing 399 mixed-gender students.

Amenities include:

  • Each apartment has a fully furnished kitchen and bathroom;

West Campus Village

Mixed gender, senior postgraduates (i.e. Masters and Doctoral students only)

  • Housing 189 students
  • Meals: Self-catering
  • Amenities: Communal laundry facilities, a TV lounge and a computer mini-lab are located in the community centre below the village. 
  • West Campus Village is situated near the Convocation Dining Hall on the West Campus, and overlooks a beautiful pond. 
  • Ground floor access for persons with disabilities has been provided. 
  • All students have single rooms that contain a kitchenette, ablution facilities and a sleeping/study area. The rooms are fully furnished. 
  • Sporting facilities such as soccer fields, squash courts and a multi-use gym are within walking distance.
  • Wits bus service to all nearby campuses, and weekend buses to Rosebank shopping mall.
